VoiceStream Alert! If you use VoiceStream, monitor your bill very carefully. For over a year they've been self destructing. They've switched computer systems and the billing system is in complete disarray. Their computers no longer recognize data transfers (Internet, fax, etc.) on any day of the week (it used to just be weekends) and charge you full voice rates. They're also playing fast and loose with charges. InfoStream (now called DataStream) was an "unlimited usage" plan that allowed you to connect a computer to the Internet via a GSM cell phone. Today they say you get 1500 minutes a month (they "say" that, but no where can I find it "written"). Their own web site states 3000 minutes a month. Further, you likely are paying for or having free minutes used up on bogus "Voice Message Retrieval" charges. A neighbor has two VoiceStream telephone accounts and was charged for message retrieval several times WHILE HE WAS OUT OF THE COUNTRY WITHOUT HIS PHONES! They finally stopped pestering me when I made it clear I would never pay the bogus charges. And if they "ruined my credit record," as they threatened, I told them I would file complaints with the Attorney General of New Mexico and the Better Business Bureau. Both have already heard of the problems from other consumers. I did pay them the correct amounts for the services they promised -- unlimited data calls at a flat rate. Do not let them bully you! Perseverance furthers! Home
