Community Outreach

Mentor/Apprentice Program

We work with and encourage kids at risk. Our mentors offer a variety of opportunities:

Construction skills (emphasis on Straw Bale, Post and Beam, Solar Design).

Landscaping, Horticulture, Growing and Cooking Healthy Food.

Computer Skills (hard and soft).

Custom Furniture Making.

Jewelry Making

We also help apprentices to develop the skills necessary for contractor and journeyman licenses, and to grow their own business and cottage industries.

Home Repair and Maintenance
for Low Income and the Elderly

We have made the commitment to help those most in need, but least able to afford it. Do you know some one who could use our help? Would you be interested in donating the materials and tools we need to do this work?

Kidz to the River!

We support and participate in Kidz to the River!, a nonprofit organization that takes kids at risk in the Boston area on extended wilderness canoe expeditions in the West. They discover inner and outer strengths they never knew, and learn they don't have to fear the natural world.

Community Center

We are designing a Center for Sustainable Living that demonstrates the viability of straw bale construction, solar design and alternative energy. We promote appropriate technologies through seminar, training and literature. The center will house expanded Mentor/Apprentice programs, our Solar/Wind Co-op, an expanded animal sanctuary and other appropriate ventures.
